CQ WW DX CW 2017

Post by LA5KO » 24 Aug 2017, 14:09

Hei.

Dette er årets største CW contest happening !

Testen starter kl 00:00z den 25. november og går til kl 23:59z den 26.november.

Regler i sin helhet finner du her: http://www.cqww.com/rules/current_rules_cqww.pdf

Resultater fra i fjor finner du her: http://www.cqww.com/score_db.htm

Norske rekorder finner du her: http://www.contesting.no/cq-ww-dx-contest/

Comments:

First of all, thanks to all of you responding to our calls !
Thank you for a lot of QSOs and a lot of nice mults.

Wow, this was fun !
Not so much because of the conditions or the result, but rather because we
achieved the biggest ever Multi-Multi operation from Norway.
We could gather most of the experienced operators from LA3Z/LN3Z and LA9Z/LN9Z
in addition to the established operators from LA8W/LN8W and a couple of
newcomers at our place.
What a team !!!
Thank you so much for joining !!!

And what an effort prior to the contest to put up new antennas despite snow,
ice rain and wind !
Most important was an additional RX 4-Square for 80m in addition to the one we
got prior to the SSB leg. Tt sure worked well on 80m as well.
And some of the guys quickly erected a quarter wave vertical for 40m just as
dusk appeared on Friday. This also showed important for us.
Thank you so much for the hard work !!!

So this was first time ever in Norway to have a station with 6 individual
monoband setups.
The rigs are not too bad, equipment collected from old LA8W/LN8W and LA9Z/LN9Z
as well as a few new Acquisitions, mostly Elecraft K3S and K3's but also one
Orion-II. Linears are still several brands, mostly manual tune, but also a
couple auto tune linears. Not so much problems with manual tume linears when we
have monoband setups, but still, we look forward to when we can operate with all
stations equal.

The team was just tremendous, extremely good CW operators with a lot of
experience in contesting. This was really, really fun !
And it's just the start...

Looking forward to the next big contest

Comments:

For this contest I had had the pleasure of using the LA4C station at Karmoy,
overlooking the rough waves of the North Atlantic ocean hitting the shoreline
rocks 25 meters from the shack window. Arrived early on Friday to rearrange the
shack for my SO2R gear, and got ready to go at the opening bell. The bands were
definitively in better shape than they were some days before the contest, and I
guess as good as one could hope for during this part of the solar cycle. First
night the bands sounded like muddle, but conditions improved as we went along
and offered enjoyable operation. However, DX in general was poor, and although
700 more Qs in the log, the Zone and Country multiplier counts ended up exactly
as they did last year.

Surely, signals emitted from this location can be heard in many places. For
this year’s phone leg, Peter/LA7QIA brought his Shared Apex Loop Array
listening antenna and, yes, signals that we could not hear through the noise
without the rx-antenna, became readable. Without such useful device this
weekend I know there were callers that I missed out " bear with me.

A big TNX is deserved by everybody for taking part in CQWWCW, making it the
yearly thrill that it certainly is.

Individual QSOs as recorded by QSOrder (search your call sign):
https://1drv.ms/f/s!AhiwuLLtJNQCj44tH2qHEghzFpySsw

Set-up: K3S, IC-7300, 2x 1.3K-FA, A3S tribander, logyagi (20), K1WA array (40),
dipole (80), delta loop (160).
